The Woodpecker Tapestry shows a woodpecker in a branch of a fruit tree while chasing another bird. The original wallhanging tapestry was designed and woven solely by William Morris in 1885. We can see the fine design detailing that was so typical of Morris, reminiscent 0f medieval Mille Fleurs tapestries. The tapestry was inspired by the legend of Picus, an ancient Italian king turned into a woodpecker by the sorceress Circe because she was jealous of the kings love for his wife. Wall tapestries are woven works of art with texture not found in any other art form.

The combination of the thread colors and weaves creats a unique art experience. This tapestry is woven on jacquard loom, fully lined and finished with two rod pockets on the backside so you can hang it easily.
